Theoretically, any mob with armor or holding an object within the spawn chunks will never despawn, due to the spawn chunks being in memory at all time. If you want a zombie to not despawn, you can throw a piece of armor, or any item, and if the zombie is able to pick the item, it will not despawn even if the zombie isn't in the spawnchunks. Yes, they will despawn. Not unless if have them carry a dropped item, name tag or wear and equipment. Having them carry an item is more important. This keeps coming up on this sub. Yes zombie villager will despawn. Use a nametag to prevent it or don't leave the area until they're done. Don't change to peaceful while they're a zombie. "A monster which has been named with a name tag will despawn if players log out more than 100 blocks from them. However, one created from a renamed spawn egg will despawn as normal. If a monster is holding any items or wearing any armor that was given by a player or picked up from the ground, it will not despawn." You don’t have to subscribe but I would appreciate it! Blocked in a 1x1x4.5 space, on a slab, lit, covered. Visible to villagers in their room, none turned. capfan67. • 3 yr. ago. Although I understand what you're describing, in vanilla named mobs do not despawn. So, either it was killed in some way, or removed by a non-vanilla mechanic.
And if a named villager is turned into a zombie, it should keep its name, and not be despawned due to mob capping limits. A named villager keeps its name when transformed into a zombie villager, and a named zombie villager keeps its name when cured. When a mob is named, it does not count toward the mob cap. Except when we tested it on WvAQ. 292 6 403 244 212 293 497 446 4
