Here's the fix: in Windows 7, go to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Life Is Strange\Engine\Config. open the BaseEngine.ini file. hit F3 to do a text search. Search for AllowJoystickInput, change the value from "=1" to "=0". save the file, relaunch the game, and everything works.
kplasa Jun 9, 2016 @ 11:49pm. after the patch i often had similar problems. so i used the special launcher ("Safe Mode") they published for any graphical issues and it worked. if you are in "library" view of the steam software, just right-click on "life is strange" in the left column, select the option "launch safe mode" and the game will start
